MMF = Marshmallow Fondant

Make your own Marshmallow Fondant instead of Plastics icing.

Ingredients:
  1. Marshmallows 350g
  2. Icing sugar 4 cups or a bit more- sift it first.
  3. Water 1-2 tbs
  4. Margarine according to your own needs
The margarine stops the MMF from sticking to the bowl/table/spoon/hands.
Steps:

  1. Placethe marshmallows and 1 tablespoon of water in a microwave safe bowl.
  2. I like to GREASE the bowl with a bit of margarine.
  3. Heat marshmallows  in microwave for 1 minute.
  4.  Then stir with a GREASED spoon. Heat until melted.

  5. Fold in the sifted icing sugar 1 cup at a time into the melted marshmallows.

  6. Once the MMF looks dough-like, turn it onto a Greased table/counter.

  7. Greasy hands!!
  8. GREASE your hands and start kneading, kneading!
  9. Regrease hands/table/counter if needed. (MMF sticks to everything)
  10. If MMF tears easily - it is too Dry, add bit a of water.
  11. If it is too wet, add bit more icing sugar.
  12. Keep kneading until MMF looks like an elastic ball that is smooth and firm.
  13. It should be able to stretch without tearing.
  14. Grease your MMF ball and  cover it with plastic cling wrap. Then in a resealable bag.

  15. Let the MMF stand overnite. Now your Marshmallow fondant is ready for use.
  16. If u using pink marshmallows then fondant will be pink.

I always buy the ready to use white plastic icing and colour it with food gels.
I find it better to work with than MMF.
But it is always great to know how to make this tasty Marshmallow Fondant.
It is softer and sweeter and kids love the taste(**;)

gift paper that compliments your party theme :)
p.s I also used Sellotape (**;) even tho you cant see it in my pics

Despicable Me Minion Cake

My very own minion fondant cake of Despicable me 2.

I finished him at 3.27am while kids were fast asleep.

I baked chocolate sponge cakes. Once cooled, I wrapped them and placed
them in the fridge.

I made buttercream using milo granules instead of cocoa.

This was my crumb coat. Every time I bake a cake, I learn something new.
It can get a bit overwhelming. Thank Goodness I enjoy it so much!

This was my second coat of icing and I decided to make it without the milo.

I like the hair bit.I think this minion is called Dave...not sure..

By the time I got to the specs, I had no silver and was too tired to think straight .
I mixed the yellow and black food gel paste and this was the colour that came out.

This cake was for a little 3 year old boy. I hope he liked it and felt very Special .

Batman Cake

The Batman cake I made for my  little girls.
Not perfect but getting there...

I added some food colour to my fondant/plastic icing...Soft gel paste
Think of it as playdough :)

Practice makes perfect...ja...I am very far from baking a perfect sponge cake
but like I always teach my girls...:"YOU NEVER EVER GIVE UP!"

Recycle

I am the tea lover and my hubby is the coffee  lover in our home.

I enjoyed collecting all his empty coffee jars....

I keep them handy for my parties.I fill them with sweets, marshmellows or whatever tickles my fancy...
You can make them look very pretty by adding a bow or a ribbon.

This was my very FIRST doll cake. Learnt so much about Fondant /Plastic icing with this cake.
I'll write down all my tips I learnt with the above an Blog them on another day.
mwhaaa...I smell my chicken burning...gotta run :(

Template:
I will use this and place it on top of my plastic icing/fondant.
Then Cut out the Fondant  using a sharp pointed knife or what ever works for you.
I prefer using hard craft paper to soft paper as my kids use them and it is easy to work with.

In South Africa fondant is known as plastic icing, sugar paste, pettinice.

Trace the pic by outlining with a pencil on hard craft paper.

Using prestik to keep the shape down while tracing.

Direct from my laptop with love:)
Magazines, comic books, coloring pages...whatever works.

Ran out of parchment paper/lunch wrap/tracing paper...

Ran out of ink/no more batman coloring pages/dog chewed up all the magazines...
No copy and printing will b taking place at 3.55am :(

well...Do what I did:)
I took some tissue paper and used that to trace.
I traced DIRECT from my laptop...ssshhhhh

No need to be Overwhelmed.  All is well (**;)
